Companies I Hate [Feb. 10th, 2009|03:01 am]
[mood | angry]
[music |TV - Drinkey Crow Show]

This may fall on deaf ears because A.) A very small population reads this, and B.) An even smaller subset of that population pays for their games legally, but here we go.

Shitlist:
1.) Rockstar for making Grand Theft Auto IV for PC the worst piece of shit I've ever used in my life. First you log into their stupid "social club", then you have to install a separate Games for Windows Live account, sign up with all new credentials, link the two, sign into the two, just to OPEN the game. Once in it runs like shit on a system I spent a lot of time and money on. If I can run Crysis on high at 45fps, there's no reason I shouldn't be able to murder people above 20fps in GTA IV. This is my reward for actually paying money for this game. Lesson learned.

2.) Activision for being the biggest video game publisher in the world and spinning turds into my consoles. I purposely waited 2 months to get Guitar Hero World Tour so I wouldn't get the shitty drumset. Guess what? I got the shitty drumset because they don't make a non-shitty one. World of Warcraft alone brings in over $150 MILLION every single month and they couldn't afford an extra 20 cents to make my drums and guitar worth a shit? And fuck you if you tell me to play a real instrument. Trombone doesn't translate well to THE ELECTRIC COWBOY! Also, they canceled Ghostbusters the game! Enough said. (Atari's picked it up if you were worried, still looks good)

3.) WebHostingBuzz. This one isn't video game related. They sent me an email telling me my hosting plan was expired. Upon trying to cancel my recurring subscription I found myself unable to log in. Resetting my password won't work and they won't answer my phone calls. All in an attempt to rape more money out of me. Jokes on them, that credit card expired last year! HA!

4.) Barack Obama. Also not video game related. His stupid address to the nation pre-empted Chuck. Why couldn't he interrupt Access Hollywood? I didn't watch it, I watched Dave Matthews Band in HD as an act of protest. I'd rather hear shitty Dave Matthews and his black assed violinist then watch the man who's keeping me from seeing the exciting double life of Chuck the spy/Buy More associate and his keepers Casey and Sarah. Thanks for nothing The President!

Goodlist:
1.) Amazon.com, called today to make a change to an order I'd placed that hadn't shipped yet to update to a more current item, not only had they done it already, but said I'd be one of the first to receive it. (It's on pre-order, I was in line for the old one already, bumped up to front of the list for the new one)

2.) Windows 7. I'm not giving Microsoft full props here because they fucked me to death with their shitty Games for Windows Live (see above). However, I installed the beta of Windows 7 and it rules. Way faster and more stable then Vista, half the memory and CPU usage. I can seriously turn my computer on in the morning and 8 seconds later I'm ready to go in Windows 7. Vista takes like 2 minutes.

What 2009 Has Done For Me [Jan. 30th, 2009|02:04 am]
[mood | lazy]
[music |NIN - Discipline]

It's a new year, I don't update this or anything anymore. That being said, my website should probably go down in the next day or two. All my videos are on YouTube (Riggz13) if you want to view them. I'll put my Flash animations up there whenever I get off my ass and export them as something I can upload to YouTube. The reason I'm letting it go is because A.) I don't update it, and B.) My host's prices went way up and I don't want to spend that money in case I need it down the road. I have reserved my domain name through 2011, so at least I won't go through that mess again. If I ever get motivated I'll have it back up with no troubles.

Since graduating I've done nothing. No beating around the bush there, just sitting on my ass. It's great. I've been checking job sites and postings at various places, not trying too hard though. That's because I'm leaving next week and mostly didn't want to go into an interview and say "I'd really like this job, but I'm going to need off the first week of February. Going on mini-vacation." That doesn't go over well in my experience. I sold one of my old PCs I built last week. Then this week the woman who bought it called me up and wanted to buy two more, we got to talking and she offered me a job. I'm not exactly sure doing what, all I know is she does medical transcription, and I'd be working with PCs. Doing repairs and possibly installing them into hospitals I think is what she said. Whatever, this is not the time to be turning down jobs. If that doesn't come through I found a couple of computer related jobs through the AR Department of Education that I'm way overqualified for, but I need experience more then I need anything else right now. My resume currently consists of being self-employed doing computer repairs through the pawn shop, and having refereed for a few seasons. Doesn't speak volumes about what I can do with my degree if you know what I mean.

So that's been my year. I didn't do resolutions this year really. Not defaulting on my student loans would be about it. Odd side note: I woke up today, booted up my computer and noticed I couldn't access secure websites because my certificates were expired. I checked my clock and it said it was January 29th, 6209. No clue how that happened. So I put 6209 in Wikipedia. It's an asteroid. Not sure what size, but my computer may have predicted the end of the earth (the cause, not the date).

Oh Yeah [Dec. 23rd, 2008|04:07 am]
[mood | hungry]
[music |Brendon Small - Secret Song #13]

In case you didn't catch it in the comments of that last post, The 7th Annual Christmas Eve at Waffle House is upon us! I think it's 7, I actually lost count. My post from last year says it was the 5th, but I think I was wrong. We're calling it 7 unless someone provides proof that it's another number and the proof can't be me! Moving on. J'ville Waffle House as always, let's hope we don't get booted, but bring appropriate clothing in case we end up loitering again. I think it's supposed to be warmer, but possibly raining. I won't get there until close to 11, which I believe is our usual meeting time. If you need/want a ride in the greater Jacksonville era, just lemme know. Facebook event being created with invitations going out now! Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

P.S. - Graduated college, and it only took me 12 years.

Study Day [Dec. 5th, 2008|01:00 am]
[mood | bored]
[music |TV - Awful iPod commercial]

I'm so bored, and I know they say only stupid people get bored, but the more I think about, the more I believe I'm stupid. I canceled my WoW account again, doesn't actually stop until the 10th for anyone who wants to call me a liar seeing me on there on the days leading up to the 10th. My news prompted Barry to quit my server, so barring anyone else coming back that should keep me from reactivating for a few months at least. The reason I mention this is because I hope leaving WoW will give me my brain back and I'll stop being bored. I've been job searching, and haven't really come up with a lot yet. Not really trying that hard to be fair, but all I hear on the news is massive layoffs and what a bad time this is to be job hunting. My summer job of custom PCs and PC repair proved to be a waste of paper and effort putting fliers up, so I don't think that will sustain me. (Note: I can still do this and will be happy to fix or build you a computer for a fraction of what Geek Squad charges)

I'm almost grateful that both my classes are having review day Friday despite it being a study day and school not actually being in session. My history teacher is pretty awesome about spelling the test out for us during the review leaving my studying to consist of re-reading my notes and not opening the book. Discrete Structures is different, I imagine I'll have to leave his review halfway through to go to my history review and he'll still be teaching instead of actually reviewing. Gives me something to do for a couple of hours anyway.

Perhaps a little early, but anyone want to even discuss the possibility of a venue change for Christmas Eve at Waffle House? The only reason I've suggested it is because I do remember Grandma kicking us out last Christmas and us having to wrap it up in the 20 degree weather. I'm not actually sure anyone else is open, but thought I'd bring it up.

Pepetual Stereotypes [Oct. 13th, 2008|08:24 pm]

Ganymede Rock Lobsters [Aug. 8th, 2008|02:42 am]
[mood | Terrified]
[music |Silence]

I fucked up tonight.
I got too greedy and dug too deep in the refrigerator.

I don't know if you've ever had to see a true carnival freak show, but let me tell you, it does not compare to the horrors I saw tonight. Your soul can not be the same after you've witnessed a yogurt cup, so far removed from normal existence, that it's begun to spawn a swamp tree from it's lid. A tree that until this day had never seen the light of the outside world, perhaps not even a glimpse of the light within our putrid ice box. However, when light abruptly raped it's slumber, this forsaken fauna turned its gaze upon me! Even though not a single sound broke the silence of our house, I tell you now, I heard it's evil scream.

Vacationing! [Jun. 18th, 2008|01:50 am]
[Current Location |Pigeon Forge, TN]
[mood | could be worse]
[music |Movie - Run Fat Boy Run]

For those of you not on the facebook, or who don't check it regularly, I'll do a quick update here. We left Jacksonville late Monday afternoon. The plan was to leave a day earlier then scheduled to make it to Lynchburg to see the Jack Daniel's Distillery. So we pulled into Nashville late last night and stayed at an unreasonably crowded La Quinta Inn. That was around midnight, came back out at 9am this morning, and the rear passenger window was on the ground. (As seen here) Josh's laptop, camera, phone, and 60 or so DVDs/HD-DVDs were stolen. Nothing else, my GPS, and camera along with my mom's camera were all left in the car untouched. Just grabbed what was closest to the window. No one bothered to come to our room to say "oh hey, your car got smashed lawlz". Without getting into the details, our insurance isn't going to cover Josh's losses. Of course. We filed a police report and the police did what they do I guess. (As seen here)

We got the window replaced and hit the road. Went to Lynchburg and saw the distillery, which was totally awesome. Headed out towards Chattanooga on our way to Pigeon Forge. We're up here primarily to go to Dollywood. Anyways, 15 miles outside of Chattanooga, we're on the interstate doing 70 and some sonofabitch drives his shitty car straight up our ass. So thank goodness for big SUVs because we didn't feel more then a big bump. He bounced off our back bumper, came around us, and sped the fuck off. I was watching a movie on my phone at the time, and somehow still had the presence of mind to get his license plate number before he got too far away. They caught him down the road into Georgia. Some 70 year old man with a case of Alzheimers. He's being charged with all kinds of shit, and as you can imagine it didn't do the car any favors. (As seen here) Anyways, we got to Pigeon Forge at 1am and barring any more bullshit we should start having a vacation now. I'm fed the fuck up with Tennessee though. Their board of tourism will be hearing from me!

If anything else happens, I'm currently operating a twitter account. Not too proud of it, but damn, I'm getting the use out of it. So anything else shitty that happens will undoubtedly end up there.

So close [May. 8th, 2008|04:15 am]
[mood | Super excited!]
[music |Nine Inch Nails -1,000,000]

Alright, I haven't posted my grades on here in a couple of semesters, let's get some.

Web Site Design - A
Human Computer Interaction - B
Multimedia Computing - B
College Chemistry 1 - C
Calculus 2 - D

I know a lot of people wouldn't publicly brag about a D, but not a lot of people understand what kind of position I was in with my GPA, my ability to graduate, and my lack of motivation to finish college. I was sure I was gonna have to take Cal2 again, Carl will tell you, I already signed up for it next semester on that assumption. A D isn't great, but I'll get away with it. A C in Chemistry isn't anything brag worthy, but wasn't an easy feat either, nailed the final which saved me. Honestly, I should have had an A in Human Computer Interaction, and I'm pissed I didn't. I had the class high on our midterms and didn't miss a single assignment in there. Same with Multimedia, the flash animation I made and posted last month was for Multimedia and represents 35-40 hours of work, but whatever. My Major GPA is now high enough for me to graduate. I have two classes next semester that I'm embarrassed to be taking this late in the game, but I honestly don't give a shit. Six hours of school and I'll have a diploma. I could not be more excited right now. I've got more news, that's even fucking better, but I'll save it's still a few weeks away.

I updated 25inchguns.com with some videos, they're just linked from youtube, but whatever, they're there. Everyone have a great summer, I'm going to now! (PS Who's with me to see Huey Lewis and the News and ZZ Top at Riverfest?)

Finally Finished [Apr. 6th, 2008|12:07 am]
[mood | accomplished]
[music |OCRemix - Super Mario Bros. 2 Jazz Theme]

Okay, I just spent the last hour of my life looking for one of my old posts where I posted a "teaser trailer" for a flash animation I was starting. I'm guessing I started it around 2005. Point is, I finished it. It was for class and I was already 45 seconds worth of animation into this one so I decided to save myself some work and go with a story I already had written. Granted it's not as awesome as it could have been because I waited until the last possible minute and had to rush the ending. Alright, I'll shut up now. Click the screen cap from it for the link! I'd really appreciate feedback from anyone who hasn't seen this yet. Thanks.

Picture Time [Mar. 19th, 2008|01:46 am]
[mood | hungry]
[music |TV - Unwrapped]

I just got done uploading like 119 pictures I took from our trip to Dogpatch to my website. I'm using some kind of software my host provided me with to display the pictures. It's nice really, it thumbnails them for me so they load quick, but if you want you can open them up to the full size as they came off my camera. Also it's easier to navigate then my old system was. For those of you who have forgotten, the old system was hand drawn next and previous buttons. Right now the template doesn't match the rest of my website, it took like 2 hours to get that shit uploaded and I'm too tired to do it now, but I'll work on it. To be honest, I'm tired of editing style sheets. I've got some of my videos uploaded to YouTube under Riggz13 if you want to see the chlorine bomb, Dave and a gas filled melon, or more of our trip to Dogpatch, that shit is available there until I can figure out how to get a good player on my website. Thought I'd mention it here, haven't really mentioned it anywhere on the site yet.

Pictures! Only took me 3.5 years to get that shit online. roflz.

I quit [Mar. 3rd, 2008|11:12 pm]
[mood | tired]
[music |The Police - Next To You]

I just canceled my World of Warcraft account. I haven't played for more then 20 minutes since before Christmas. I put about a year into that game. It's funny, it's such a huge game with so much to do and I got bored with it before I got bored with Ultima Online, a 10 year old game I was playing on a European free server with some German dude. I'll probably pick it back up after this semester when I'm bored with Team Fortress 2 and the next expansion drops. I spent a long time saying I'd never pay a monthly fee for a game, and then I heard Kxlly say he was doing that 10 day free trial. I decided I'd try it based on that, and here we are 14 months later. Me quitting isn't anything anyone should care about, I was never so into it that it fucked up my personal life, just don't have anything else to talk about. Maybe I'll look into selling my account. Anyone want to buy a level 70 Orc Hunter with some better then average gear?

I've been slowly working on my website to make it look less like crap. I've got a forum and "merchandise" available. If anyone's got any experience with integrating OpenID I could use a few pointers. I got a flash animation in the works, mostly because I have to do it for class, but still, it's coming. Finally, I downloaded the NIN song pack for Rock Band this week. The drums(the only thing I play because I'm more efficient there then I am at guitar), are hard on one of the songs. That being said, I could always use another band mate. I'd really like to have a go at the Endless Setlist, it's a 5-6 hour commitment and would require some skillz at fake instruments on your part(or the ability to sing), I'll be glad to switch instruments or whatever throughout to keep things fun.

Old Story [Feb. 3rd, 2008|02:41 am]
[mood | entertained]
[music |TV - Blood+]

I got this story, everyone has probably heard it, but I never typed it out and I just remembered it having gone back and read some of my old shit. It's a good story I'd like to keep it available for future reference:

This takes place on a cruise I went on to Hawaii. One of our last nights there I decide to get fancy and have this cheese platter sent to our room and no one wants any so I go to town on it. The next morning at breakfast I'm suffering the consequences in the bathroom next to the breakfast buffet. Someone comes in and is beating on the stall door, there was only one stall and like two urinals. I'm all like "Occupied, I'm birthing a pineapple in here!" He keeps going and knocking on the door for a while, and then I hear him resign to waiting by the sink. I'm really sick, so it takes a while in there. As I'm close to being done I start thinking "it smells fucking awful in here", and I wasn't aware of it being me. So I finish up and exit the stall and standing there before me is a wrinkled old man, easily in his 80's. He's about 5'3", and is a dead ringer for the old guy from those Six Flags commercials or Hans Moleman of Simpson's fame. He's standing next to the sink, completely butt ass naked and covered in shit. I just freeze there and look at him with my mouth agape, and figuring out where the terrible smell was coming from. Now when I say butt ass naked, I mean he had stepped out of his pants, pulled off his shirt, his shoes, even so far as to remove his glasses(which he was reaching for as I exited the stall). The only clothing he had was those old man orthopedic socks or whatever they are. He turns to me and again, he even sounds like Hans Moleman, he says "I didn't make it." Really? I apologized for taking so long. He smiled and said "It's okay, it just happens." And then he just kept standing there. Naked, wrinkled, not bothering to cover his shame. I stepped over his clothes and his pile of shit(actual shit, not personal belongings), and I left. Absolutely mortified.

And that's the story. His response of "I didn't make it", even now, like 2 years later is absolutely priceless. I don't ever want to get old, that's why I'm eating everything I can to guarantee a heart attack by age 30. Haven't started on the website yet, I'm going to keep the layout the same for now, just remove some features, add some new ones, upload some more videos, and then get to work with content. I've had a lot of good ideas over the past year I need to get a start on. If anyone wants to get involved in any fashion, shoot me a line.

Changes [Jan. 12th, 2008|12:41 am]
[mood | irritated]
[music |TV - Build It Bigger]

When did the fees for drop/adds go up? I decided to take some more computer science classes to get my major gpa up, so it cost 60 of my dollars to change my schedule. Anyways, my new schedule is just as shitty as my old one. It literally took me 5 hours to get a schedule that got me everything I needed to graduate and didn't have any overlap. On top of that I had to drop classes I was looking forward to. Lost Visual Basic and Desktop Publishing. Both would have been easy A's. The new schedule looks like this:

MWF:
11:00-11:50 - Calculus 2
2:00-3:15 - Web Site Design(Monday/Wednesday only)
8:00-10:50 - Chemistry 1 Lab(Friday only)

TTh:
8:00-9:15 - Chemistry 1
9:25-10:40 - Intro to Human-Computer Interaction
10:50-12:05 - Calculus 2
12:15-1:30 - Introduction to Multimedia Computing

Like I said, it's a shitty schedule. I hate getting up early, as long as I can remember I've been a night person. An easy semester has suddenly turned into a hard one. If anyone wants to let me borrow a Calculus book until mine gets here that'd be tight. I saved over $300 by getting my books off half.com. My best savings was my Chem book. It's an old edition that my professor uses, so the bookstore is still charging $150 for it, I got it for $10. Speaking of, let me tell you how shitty that place is. If you go to the online bookstore they only give you partial book titles and no additional information, like ISBNs, and I think it's fair to assume so you can't get your shit elsewhere. Fucking shady. (But good business I guess?)

Off to a great start [Jan. 3rd, 2008|11:55 pm]
[mood | worried]
[music |Jonathon Coulton - Still Alive]

Our house(Robert, Karen, and myself), was broken into today. Robert called initially to tell me that the only thing that had been stolen was my GameCube. This by itself is a crime against all humanity. However, after a few minutes and the cops had cleared out I was on the phone with him and we started to realize that wasn't all that was stolen. Read more... )
I can take some comfort in the fact that my parents insurance will probably cover my stolen goods. But I'm going to miss my laptop. Aside from having some stuff I can't replace on it(pictures, videos, flash animations, etc), I'd developed an emotional attachment to it. It'd been a good friend since I started college. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it, along with all the other stuff that was stolen, ends up at a pawnshop and we get it back soon.

Let's kick this off right [Dec. 31st, 2007|11:03 pm]
[mood | creative]
[music |RO - Theme of Payon]

Happy New Years and a late Merry Christmas. Those of you who didn't attend our annual gathering at Waffle House missed a great time. Also, you're asshats. I got a new phone for Christmas, I'm not going to ask for phone numbers. I'm not one of these retards you see on facebook begging for everyone's digits. I'm perfectly capable of transferring my old contacts to my new phone.(Granted I'm having to do this manually because Bluetooth does not want to work with me and I'm the only person I know with a laptop old enough to still have infared but damned if it isn't at school). Anyways, the reason I mention it is because if you've changed numbers or if I just don't have it, feel free to send it to me via email, here, or facebook, or however else you want to. Otherwise I'll have to trust my growing contact list(which is nearing 6 years old), is still true.

Straight up though, it's an iPhone, so realistically I could think about you and the iPhone would not only find your number, it would pull you up in real time via Google Earth. If I were willing to shell out another $4 a month to AT&T I could get the service that teleports me to your location so we can talk face to face. Still on the phone of course, they're not stupid. This is my last semester at college, and as such my last chance to really fuck shit up, on an extra-curricular level of course. I don't have any plans, it's hard to say I want to get out and do shit when I don't enjoy going out. I'll get it though. Robert's taking me to see Rob Zombie after I made him go earlier in the month. I think I may have made a fan out of him. Speaking of concerts, Tiger Army is coming to LR in February. If anyone in the Conway area wants to go that'd be cool. I could use a ride honestly, or I would be willing to drive if someone wanted to toss in a few bucks for gas, but I'll take you even if you can't. I really have no idea if anyone still listens to them or not, but I'm looking forward to it. I got a surprise coming, I told a few people about it at Waffle House, but I won't say anymore on it until it's done. The people who know about it, don't know about what else is attached to this project which should delight everyone. Enjoy your week, hope to see more of everyone this year.

(Also, Portal and Team Fortress 2 is great!)

Christmas Miracles [Dec. 19th, 2007|01:06 am]
[mood | accomplished]
[music |Alvin and the Chipmunks - Christmas Don't Be Late]

Got my grades back today. A C in Biology which I'm not too proud of, I fucked up enough quizzes to keep myself from being just shy of a B. Honestly at this point I don't care, I just want to be done. Anyways, get this, I got a B in Algorithms. I really didn't see that coming, I was keeping my fingers crossed for a C, especially after my final. As icing on the cake I pulled a B in Software Engineering as well(and only had to take it once!).

Software Engineering was my last Computer Science course. We've been working on this huge project all semester long. It's the first time I've ever worked with a team of people for more then a few hours, and definitely the first time I've ever done a full class project. We attempted a Dynamic Map of UCA or DMUCA for short. It was like Google Earth or whatever, only isolated to UCA and with no satellite images. If you've ever used the shitty PDF the Physical Plant has on file you can appreciate the need for this. There was an events calendar, search engine, and the ability to get directions, as well as scrolling and zooming capabilities. There was also an administrative program that would allow a person to add new buildings, paths, etc. You could search for buildings, events, services, parking, teachers, whatever. If you clicked on a building it would bring up floor plans and shit, all very cool. It doesn't work. Don't get me wrong, all the code is there and it's all good, we just didn't get it tied into the Database correctly before we ran out of time. So right now I've got a program that compiles and runs and I can piss around all over the map, but when I search for things or look for directions nothing happens. My sample Database is populated and it should work, it would just take someone a few hours of sitting down and getting everything to work together. Anyways, that was my project. We had to make a User's Manual which also contained our source code, it was something like 600 pages long(mostly source, most of that Database code).

So that was the biggest part of my semester, busting my ass on that project. It wasn't just the coding, we had to do this like you would a real software project in the business world. So the first 3/5's of the project was documentation and pseudo code and shit. The best thing about this class was it boosted my confidence. After so long of shitty grades and not graduating I was starting to think I wasn't cut out for computer science. However for a lot of this project I led my team, was turning in work early, and just generally being awesome and it really gave me confidence that I can do this for a living with minimal problems. Another thing that finally sank in this semester is that I'm graduating with a degree in Computer Science, not Computer Programming. Some people have been quick to accuse me of not being able to program and that I'm a failure. That's not completely true, I can program, but more importantly I understand the logic behind it and have the skills to be able to not only teach myself any kind of language I might need in the future, but be in more of a leadership position rather then a code monkey. I look at my friends from the department who are already working and none of them have the same job. It's a huge relief to know that the reason I got a BS in Computer Science rather then some kind of 2 year training at PT or ITT was so that I wouldn't be typecast into one job my entire life. I really like the documentation stuff and the planning parts of this project more then the implementation of the code. That was my favorite part of Database last year, sitting down and mapping out schemas and ER Diagrams and shit. This semester, aside from taking me so close to the end, has really taken a lot of weight off my shoulders. Now Chops can get on here, tell me I'm wrong, and hand me a loaded gun so I can blow my brains out. Let my last semester commence!

Year Number Six [Dec. 13th, 2007|02:00 pm]
[mood | finished]
[music |Rob Zombie - American Witch]

I just wrapped up my last "final". It was for Software Engineering, I actually took the final test last week, but had a presentation for our semester long project today. I'll discuss that at length once I get my grades back. Hopefully I'll be able to show off the project as well. Anyways, the point of today's post is to remind everyone that it's 11 days until Christmas Eve at Waffle House. We successfully passed the crucial 5th Anniversary mark. It's a little early but Dobbs is already up my ass about it, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling. We're doing it at J'ville Waffle House again this year because that always gives us our best results. If there's some reason you believe we should switch Waffle House's speak now or go to hell. I'll start a facebook group because I'm pretty sure almost everyone is on there. Anyways, sign in(here or on facebook), if you plan on coming. I don't have any set time in mind yet, we'll talk about that as the time gets closer.

Plans [Nov. 3rd, 2007|01:13 am]
[mood | curious]
[music |Super Smash Bros. - Main Theme]

Update on Big Jim: He's doing better, but still not great. I don't think he's comfortable being at the pawn shop by himself anymore, which is understandable. I was back in J'ville today at 1 to let him rest and relieve my mom from working down there. I felt bad because they needed me back Tuesday but I had tests and papers and presentations every day this week and just couldn't do it. Anyways, the two guys turned out to be 18 and 16. The younger one was the one who actually hit Big Jim. Because it was guns they stole it's now a federal case and will probably go to circuit court. The detective in charge of the case said he was trying to have the charges raised to 2nd Degree Manslaughter, because while he doesn't think the kids tried to kill Big Jim, they created a situation in which he could have died. Anyways, they probably won't go to court until next year. Everyone in Jacksonville has been in the shop threatening to kill these two kids. It's a very nice gesture. (We did have two shit heads call, the first because he thought the guitar used in the assault was one that had been stolen from him, the second was a woman who just wanted to see if her jewelry had been stolen(just hers out of the hundreds of other people who have jewelry up there)).

I made my final schedule this week. I told you I'd be taking some bullshit courses. I've got Web Site Design, Programming with Visual Basic, and I shit you not - Desktop Publishing. You know, the class you took in 10th grade to learn how to use MS Word. I've also got Differential Equations and Chemistry 1 stacked on top of those to keep me busy. All morning classes, which I hate. I'm naturally a night person and nothing will ever change that, I've tried, a lot. So I'm going to go apply for my degree or whatever next week, turns out I was supposed to do it last May, whoops! Also, I've been made Team Leader for my Software Engineering team. That means absolutely nothing, but I was nominated and it's the first time I've ever had that happen in college. We're making a Dynamic Map of UCA, or Google Earth with shitty BMPs for UCA as I like to call it.

Everyone's on my ass about where I'm going to work when I graduate. Apparently it's a requirement that I be ass deep in a cubicle the day after my graduation. I say fuck that noise. I'm quite good at saving money, especially for a person with literally no income. So what I'd like to do is just drive around the country. I know it's what everyone does, but I still want to. I've got two goals, first is to visit abandoned sites. Mines, hospitals, towns, whatever as long as it's deserted. Second is I'd like to go storm chasing, that's something I've always wanted to do. This isn't some 2-3 week trip, I'm talking like 2-3 months. I want to see a huge portion of the country, and maybe wind up in Seattle for PAX at the end. Basically I'd make my last summer really count, I hate the thought that my last summer(this past one), would have been spent making trips to the dump and playing WoW. Problems with this plan: My truck is not fuel efficient and gas is like $first-born-child per gallon. Second: I for serious have very limited funds. My income, as it is, consists of recycling, then using that money for ticket scalping and internet gambling. I've done very well at both, but that isn't enough to take me on a huge road trip, especially if I have to consider I'd need a car not my giant man truck to make this trip feasible. Well, I'm just tossing the idea around at the moment. I'm 24 and will be working full time for probably the rest of my life within a year, I don't want to wake up 50 and say "I wish I hadn't pissed my last summer of my youth away watching Seinfeld re-runs."

[music |Optimus Rhyme - Autobeat Allies]

I've told several people this already, but thought I'd share it with those of you who I don't see on AIM all that often. Yesterday two guys(of the black variety who were also teenagers), came into the pawn shop. While one was having Big Jim show him knives, the other one took it upon himself to clobber my poor father in the skull with a guitar. Big Jim collapsed forward, overturning the knife case, where he was struck at least twice more either by guitar or by hand, we do not know at this point. The pair then proceeded to take a sum of $27 from Big Jim's pocket, then steal all the hand guns in the pawn shop while he lay bleeding and unconscious on the floor. Minutes later another patron approached the pawn shop to see the two assailants fleeing the pawn shop and discovered Big Jim on the floor. An ambulance and police were called, and Big Jim was taken to the hospital.

So there it is. Big Jim suffered a fractured skull and a concussion, but is otherwise alright. He's fucked up pretty good though, they discharged him a few hours after he was admitted and he's been at home for the most part since then. His CT Scans came back fine and the doctors don't expect there to be any problems. He looks like shit though, gash in the back of his head, big bruise on his forehead and a black eye. The fact that he spent today home while my mom and I watched the pawn shop speaks volumes. If you know him, you know he does not leave that shop for anything. He was literally there 20 minutes after being released from the hospital following his heart attack 2 years ago. So I figure he's hurting pretty bad to sit at home and sleep. The two thieves, were caught with guns in tow an hour later. Two high school girls saw where they ran to and notified police. I believe I've found a picture of one of them. It could have been worse I guess. To tell you the truth, I'm tired of telling the story. I had to tell everyone in Jacksonville the story today I think.

I don't know what they'll do to the two guys, I'm just glad they were caught. Did anyone ever see Idiocracy? It was a terrible movie, but the plot was that stupid people breed more then anyone else and by the year 3000 a man with an IQ of 100 would be the smartest man on Earth. That one key fact is the only truth I've encountered so far. No doubt that in 6 months these two mother fuckers will be back on the street and in a few years will have kids that are even dumber. I say they're dumb because they thought stealing 4 pistols was worth beating a 56 year old man in broad daylight. Like I said, I don't know what the correct punishment should be, but I really hope that the first moon colony is a prison.
